LUXE Models Review - Is it Free? Kube Studios Services

LUXE Models Review : Is it Free?

LUXE Models UK is not a model agency. It is a Model Advisory Service that has seen success through helping aspiring models’ with portfolios. Over the years we have heard many success stories from aspiring models who have gone some way to achieving their goals with the help of LUXE Models UK.

So, is LUXE Models free?

LUXE Models provide both free and paid for services. They offer advice and guidance to prospective models. A model consultant will usually start the process off by better understanding the needs of the model.

There is no fee for their advice, so it is worth taking it. They offer portfolio services too, helping you to build and update your portfolio or start from scratch. LUXE Models own a number of studios across the UK where the model can have the shoot. The shoot itself is free, and often hosted by a model (such as Jasmia Robinson from Britain's Next Top Model).
There is a cost if you want to buy any of the photos after the shoot. This is the quid-pro-quo. They are of course hoping that if the shoot goes well and you want to take the next step into modelling, that you will buy some of the images.

The LUXE Models site makes is clear they are not a modelling agency. It's definitely a good place to start for advice if you're looking to break into modelling.

LUXE Models are using feedback reviews and testimonials on their website.

How to Find Genuine UK Model Agencies

If you are looking to find a genuine modelling agency then the AMA (Association of Model Agencies) have a list of their members on their website:

Genuine UK Model Agencies

The problem is that most model agencies are extremely selective and a very small percentage of applicants get in. This leaves the way open for places like Capri Models to accept anyone who comes in for a shoot even though they are not a model agency and cannot advise on suitability.

Remember you should never have to pay a deposit to a model agency - they find you work not charge you to turn up!

If you just require a photo shoot, not a modeling agency, or want to be a freelance model, you can try a number of photography studios in the UK including LUXE Models, Kube Studios, Fusion Studios or UK Models. These companies are not modelling agencies, so you do not need to go through them to be a model.

La Mode Agency London complaints

La Mode London complaints - Not a Model Agency

If you have been applied to La Mode London and been contacted by them to arrange a shoot be prepared to need very deep pockets. La Mode charge the highest price of any photo studio in London that we are aware of - the common amount for a photo shoot is £2750! Two thousand seven hundred and fifty pound - for photos that are not needed to apply for modelling!

La Mode have been taken to court by customers complaining about their service and the fabricated information they supplied prior to the shoot. The customer that made the complaint won the case against La Mode.

We have been asked by potential models for advice about La Mode London modelling agency. However La Mode based in London are not a modeling agency so we cannot give any reviews about them for getting you modelling work. They sell portfolio shoots, they do not book models for work.

La Mode london Modelling - where do they get their money from ?

La Mode London are a photography studio. Potential models can go to La Mode to pay for a photo shoot but that is it - you do not get work from a commercial photo studio that sells portfolio shoots and you do not need a portfolio to approach modelling agencies. La Mode make their money from selling photo shoots to people, they do not pay models for shoots or get them work as they are not a modelling agency. If you have been ripped off and unable to get a refund this BBC series may be able to help you

New ITV Show - Cook Me The Money

My name is Anabel and I work for ITV Studios on abrand new series called Cook Me The Money for ITV1 andI am currently recruiting couples and teams of two to take part.

It would be absolutely fantastic if you are able to forward on a copy of the advert attached to your distribution list and/or client list and put the word out there to friends, family, and colleagues as through word of mouth, you never know, someone you know might know someone who would like to apply.  It would be brilliant if you could also print a copy andput it up perhaps in your staff room, reception and any otherway you can think of such as a mention in your newsletter, putting something onyour website, in print, on Facebook or on the modelling agency Twitter for example.  And, ifyou have any ideas on how you think you might be able to help then please let me know as we are looking for couples in your area now.

The show is essentially a cook-off between three couples with a passion for cooking whowant to demonstrate their skills and in the process could win a cashprize.   Each couple will be given the opportunity to create the perfect food pitch and compete against the other two couples for the chance of winning a grand prize.  They’ll have to source the ingredients, pitch up and cook their chosen dish and desert to members of the public. The couple that sells the most wins.  They don’t need to be top-notch chefs but experience and a love for cooking and food wouldn’t go a miss.

Maybe even you and your partner or friend might be interested?  It can be mother and daughter, two friends, two colleagues, brother and sister, husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend - any couple is welcome to apply so long as neither are or have ever been a professional chef, cook, caterer or the modelling agency.

If you do know anyone interested thenplease do get themto send an email to cookmethemoney@itv.com. They’ll be sent an application form asking themto tell us a little bit about themselves, what theyboth do for a living, ages, any cooking experience, a photo of the both of themtogether, and why theythink theyboth would be good at cooking for cash, any previous TV experience, hobbies, interests etc.  We are holding auditions this week and next in London and Manchesterso if there is any interest then they need to get in contact right now.

Do let me know if you think you can help with this and/or please feel free to contact me by phone on 020 7157 4288 and I can tell you a little bit more.

Form models - misleading claims again!

Form models are now running a twitter account that claims they are a model agency when as their website clearly states they are no such thing. Form models is the name used by Neptune studios in Waterloo to entice models into attending shoots where they are sold expensive portfolios that they do
not need to apply to real model agencies.

Hidden Camera TV Show

I was wondering if you were able to help me?

We're trying to find people between the ages of 18-30yr to take part in our hidden camera comedy show for E4. The idea behind the show is that you'd set up your boyfriend (or girlfriend) by introducing her/him to your family for the 1st time.

However the only catch is that it wouldn't be your real family but instead a bunch of actors! The family are quite quirky and a bit eccentric but the premise of the show is light-hearted and lots of fun and there's also an amazing prize up for grabs if they can stay the course. It is therefore important that your partner hasn't met your parents yet.

Can I ask you a few questions.

.           Are you currently in a relationship where your partner hasn't met your parents?

.           If so, how long have you two been together?

.           Has your partner met your parents yet or seen any photos of them?

.           Do you have any brothers or sisters or even step-siblings? Has your partner met them or know much about them?

It would be good to have a number for you so we can chat further. I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Emm Hobbs | Casting | 0207 202 2456 | @CastObjective

Should I have to pay deposit to a model agency?

Did i need to pay deposit for model agency? Should I pay a deposit for a modelling agency?

If you have paid a deposit to meet with a model agency then it is almost certainly not actually a model agency at all. Deposits are normally taken by portfolio shoot companies that may appear to be model agencies by their use of the words "selected", "successful" or "chosen" but in reality all you have been offered is an expensive portfolio shoot even if they don't make any mention of costs.

Advice from model agency Now Models - do not pay for a portfolio and do not pay a deposit!

A genuine modelling agency will not ask for a deposit just to assess if you are suitable for their books. If you fail to turn up then that is your loss not theirs. A fake model agency that is actually a photo studio will want a deposit to ensure you arrive as they have paid photographers and makeup artists for the shoot and want to get your money to pay their costs.

Should I pay a deposit for a modelling agency?

NEW PRIMETIME PROPERTY PROGRAMME OFFERING ASPIRATIONAL MAKEOVERS FROM TOP DESIGNERS

I am working on an exciting new property programme for a major TV channel. The show will transmit in a prime time slot.

We are currently looking for homeowners who would like the opportunity to have a top interior designer revamp their home, creating an aspirational and visually stunning transformation.

The criteria is quite specific in that I need three households who all live in architecturally identical properties, for example all 3 houses might be a Victorian terraced or a 1930’s semi or they could all be Georgian townhouses.

I wondered if this might be something for your members/parents and I would be grateful if you would consider bringing the show to their attention.

Splash Media are an independent television production company founded in 2006 by ex BBC Head of Entertainment Jane Lush and BBC Executive Fenia Vardanis.
We have developed and broadcast successful property shows in the past such as Fantasy Homes by the Sea and Celebrity Fantasy Homes with Gaby Roslin, Piers Morgan On…Dubai/ Monte Carlo/ Sandbanks etc for ITV1 and we are currently in production with a new property series called Marbella Mansions. Splash Media has experience of working with major British Broadcasters making a wide range of programmes including James Martin’s Operation Hospital Food for BBC ONE, Great British Hairdresser for E4 and Cleverdicks, a new quiz hosted by Ann Widdecombe for SKY.

Are Form Models in London an agency /Form Modelling Agency?

Are Form Models in London an agency? What is Form Modelling Agency?

Form Models in London are not a model agency. Form Models is the name used by Neptune Studios near Waterloo to sell modelling portfolio shoots.

You may be told by Form Models in London that you have been selected or chosen for a modelling shoot. This is purely designed to convince you to attend the shoot, all they want to do is sell you a modelling portfolio as that is their business. A real model agency makes their money by booking models for work and taking commission.

Page 3 Idol Glamour Modelling Competition - 2011 Now Open

The Sun's Page 3 run the annual Page 3 Idol competition to find the next Page 3 girl. Many of our local models such as Kelly have been in the competition in previous years.

Unfortunately there are some models with appalling photos in the competition this year and means that a potential model may miss out purely because no-one can see what they look like. So it is well worth investing some money in some clear professional shots to boost your chances in the competition.

There is still time to apply to please get in touch if you would like to book a shoot.

Candi Models London Review - Feedback from One Mother of a Potential Model

Complaints about Candi Models London - Mint Brown Studios Review - Feedback from One Mother of a Potential Model

More complaints about Candi Models here. This is some feedback/review from a mother about her experiences with Candi Models at Mint Brown studios and follows the pattern of other modelling portfolio companies like Form Models that give the hard sell to get people to buy portfolios for modelling that they do not need as Candi Models are not a model agency.

If you need to call Candi Models the phone number for Candi Models is  02072677786  and the telephone number for Mint Brown Studios is 02072679887 if you need to call with a complaint about Candi Models.

Took my 15 year old daughter for a shoot at Candi Models. A little surprised when we walked in, as it looked just like a hair salon and there were a lot of people waiting to be photographed. It was like a conveyor belt. We were 1.1/4 hrs late getting in to be photographed, which isn't good when you live 200 miles away and have a specific train to catch on a Sunday evening! Had to ask them if they could speed things up so we didn't miss our train.

Admittedly the photos were quite good (tho the photographer was a rather odd character!). When we went in to look at the photos the girl was as nice as pie at first, saying my daughter was a "natural" model etc etc. Then the price list came out! When I said they were too expensive, she started getting aggressive, indicating that I was a bad mother and was holding my daughter's modelling career back, and why did we even bother coming as it cost a lot of money to hire the studio and the photographers! I asked if we could buy individual photos and she said no, because that isn't a portfolio.

She then stormed out, coming back in a few minutes later saying her Manager had said we could buy 6 photos for £250. By this time, time was getting on, we had an hour to get from Mint Brown to Kings Cross (not knowing the area I wasn't sure where we were exactly!)and I was starting to panic a little as didn't want to miss our train. I was going to commit to the £250, but this girl's attitude really stank, and in a snap second decision, decided not to buy any. She then slammed a form down in front of me asking me to fill it in so they could refund the £50 fee I had originally paid.

To be honest I nearly said if they were that hard up they could keep the money. I didn't expect to get this money back anyway (and will be pleasantly surprised if this materialises!). I felt very under pressure to buy the photos, and did not like being talked to in that manner; a stranger telling me what was best for my daughter. I do actually regret not buying the photos now, as there were some really nice ones. However, if you don't buy, they delete them all as soon as you have gone so you don't even have the option to buy any later.
All I will say is treat this with a pinch of salt - if you've got the money and really want a portfolio then try Candi Models. However, they are not a modelling agency and can't get you modelling jobs!

How much should I pay for model portfolio?

Some new models ask "How much should I pay for model portfolio?"

The answer is - it depends! You should never pay a makeover studio for a model portfolio or go to a model portfolio company to buy a portfolio to apply to model agencies. Model agencies want to see natural shots and ones you have taken yourself are fine as long as they are clear and show what you look like.

You do not need to spend £1000 on a portfolio as some companies in London would have you believe. If you need to spend money on a photo shoot for a portfolio and are advised to do so by a real model agency (not a fake company selling photos by pretending to be an agency) then they will recommend suitable photographers.

As a rough rule of thumb you can get photos from an amazing photographer for well under £500, many would be able to do the shoot for £300 or so. These would be specific to you and not the standard factory shots you would get from the main London portfolio photo studios.

Modelling Photos : Copyright and Rights to Use (in the UK)

There are often many questions raised by models about copyright and what rights they have to use photos that they have posed for. The answer is: it depends! The reason is that firstly the law is different in different countries and advice you read on the web could have been written from anywhere based on their laws so that is the first thing you need to check. The comments here are all based on UK law; the situation in the USA is very different and much advice on the web would relate to that purely because the USA is such a large country with a huge web presence.

In the UK in general terms the photographer owns the copyright of any photos that they take. They can do pretty much anything with those photos should they so wish and no model release form is needed. This is one major difference with the USA where model release forms do have a purpose and many online articles confuse models about their requirement in the UK - model releases forms are not needed for a photographer to publish photos of a model here. Some magazines may require them but they are not legally required and a photographer can use any photos taken online as they wish.

If you are a model that has posed for a TFP/TFCD shoot then the photographer will provide you with copies of images from that shoot that you can use for your portfolio. The number will depend on the agreement that you reach with the photographer but you should not expect EVERY photo that has been taken. A good photographer will remove poor photos. An indication to me about the professionalism of a photographer is their worst photo that is shown; studio lighting stands or background edges in a shot show me that they do not care much about their work.

Any images provided to you should be used as provided unless you have a written agreement from the photographer that you can edit them including cropping. Any logo included on the photo should remain wherever you use them as in the example below.

Models Divine / Edge Models

Models Divine quote their office address as

39 Great Windmill Street, PICCADILLY, London W1D 7LX

They also then say "Please note that like any agency, we do NOT accept unsolicited appointments or walk-ins. All visits must be preapproved first" However many agencies DO allow walk ins. I wonder why Models Divine don't?

If you do a search on Google you wonder if this is why... this is what 39 Great Windmill Street looks like

British light-middleweight Boxing- Webb v Prince Arron at Medway Park

Last night the British light-middleweight battle took place between Sam Webb and Prince Arron at the Medway Park centre in Gillingham. Models3.com provided the card girls for the match and Jade and Laura did a fantastic job for the match shown live on Sky Sports 1. Prince Arron won the British light-middleweight belt in the 12th round after the fight was stopped with Webb reeling from Arron's onslaught.

Unlike fake model agencies such as UK Models, we do find well paid work for our models. Previously we have also worked with top UK models such as Katie Green who hit the news over her Size Zero campaign and her friendship with former MP Lembit Opik.

Paying model agencies 50 pounds up front - Is it right?

Some people have asked if paying model agencies 50 pounds up front is right?

The answer is no! A genuine model agency will not ask for any money up front as a deposit. The companies that ask for deposits for shoots are NOT modelling agencies. Examples of non agencies that ask for £50 up front are Form models, Candi models, Edge Modelling and Replay Models.

All of these are companies that will sell you photo shoots and they will not refund your money unless you complete the whole shoot and sale process.

Edge Models ONE STEP AHEAD LTD

Edge Models/ONE STEP AHEAD LTD

Until recently the company behind Edge Models was ONE STEP AHEAD LTD. As of Jan 2011 this was shut down by the government department Companies House. The company behind Edge Models now is Christals Ltd which is also being shut down by Companies House for breaking the law on company registration.

Edge Models have also been run by various other companies in the past such as Model Essence Ltd, all of which had also been shut down.

Any genuine model agency would not keep changing their company and be constantly closed down for breaking UK company laws.

Miss Kent Competition - Miss Great Britain Finals

We recently had the pleasure of being asked to judge the Miss Kent competition, part of the Miss Great Britain beauty pagent. The standard of the competitors was extremely high and the judging was made very difficult as a result. Howver there could be only one winner and at the end of the evening Chloe was crowned Miss Kent 2010.

Facebook Down - Facebook Error DNS failure

It looks like the Facebook website is down again. The error being given varies from
Service Unavailable - DNS failure / DNS error, The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later to Zero size error amongst others but other websites do not appear affected. The same problem apparently occurred yesterday.
It is very unusual for a multi-country website such as Facebook to ever be down completely and unreachable for DNS. Is this a Facebook server error or some DDoS attack?

We use Facebook for promotion and you can find us under the group

The Importance of Posing!

Here are 2 shots from a location model shoot that show how important the right pose is. The first shot was taken deliberately to show how the figure looks when no effort is taken to pose.

The next shot was taken with the model now adopting a pose that flatters the figure and makes a huge difference to the final shot.

Any photographer should be able to pose their model to make the shot work best.
